We help people to use the internet to improve their own lives. This is done with them, not for them. We also provide the initial equipment they need, along with the first year’s internet connection. 100% of funds raised are spent on the projects, not on offices, staff, etc. Full accounts are publicly presented online.

We have two pilot projects which show very well what just a little help from your friends can do. They will serve as a demonstration and then we will be able to open up to others.

Both projects need a decent internet connection and initial help in learning to use it properly. That will enable them to take part in an innovative direct sponsorship program. Both groups also include a school, so the benefits will be shared and greatly enhanced. The main difference we offer is that these projects belong to the people themselves, not to some organization who “lets” them use it. It’s all owned and run by the community, as part a support network to offer assistance and education when needed.

You can see them on directsponsor.net – this is what they have managed without a decent internet connection, often walking miles to a place they can connect, and posting videos and images on a USB key so we can upload them for them. With just 2 BTC each, they can get fully connected and start to reap the benefits. This simple and direct way of working with others means that every Satoshi raised is equivalent to around 1c raised by traditional top-down charities.(1)

After the initial phase, where external funding is needed, the network’s members will fund the network by using it to promote and operate their organizations, businesses or trading, and paying either out of their receipts or with their time and energy. Community groups can pay out of the extra funds they raise.

If anyone is wondering why we don’t look “professional”, here’s a link to more than you could want to read about jargon.

About Advertising

We especially want to support a-ads.com because they do no tracking and have a nice, simple process, and AdBit.co because they are making efforts to bring advertising back to its roots. Other ad networks we feature have similar attributes.

As things develop, people around the world will be setting up their own businesses and will be able to advertise here any part of their business that is using this network. They can contribute either financially or with their time as a fair exchange for this. The ad networks we support won’t lose out because these will be new customers for them too.

So our ads will be unique and interesting. “Fair Trade” is like a premium brand thing already, and ours will be even better. People will be able to trade directly and see for themselves the benefits because they will be in contact with the people they are trading with.

(1) I made that up off the top of my head, but see the news section of directsponsor.net for some insights into traditional “Charity” and some of the initiatives that are beginning to replace it.
